Pre-trial is considered the gateway to probation. Services are provided to all juveniles placed on supervised release or house arrest pending adjudication. A juvenile referred for pre-trial services is assigned a Juvenile Probation Officer to ensure full compliance of any court-imposed condition of release. Types of services provided while in the pre-trial stage are as follows: The Juvenile Probation Unit Staff provides twenty-four (24) hours intervention to all juvenile arrests. 1. Pre-trial supervision on juvenile offender pending court disposition. 2. Home and school visits are conducted by a probation officer. 3. Home assessments for case plan preparation are conducted. 4. In line with the courts order the Juvenile Probation Unit may be tasked to prepare a Home Study or a Pre-Disposition report to assist the court with the direction they should rule on a juvenile case. 5. Prior to the initial court appearance of a juvenile, a brief information on the juvenile and his/her family is provided to the court. |
